Meet Jannette McCurdy
Discover the inspiring journey of Jennette McCurdy, one of
Nickelodeon’s most beloved stars of the 2000s. From her
iconic role as Sam Puckett on iCarly to becoming a #1 New
York Times bestselling author — her story continues to
captivate fans worldwide.
Humble Beginnings
Jennette Michelle Faye McCurdy was born on June 26, 1992,
in Long Beach, California. She grew up in nearby Garden Grove
as the youngest of four children. Her childhood was shaped
by hardship — her mother Debra battled breast cancer from
when Jennette was just three years old.
Debra pushed Jennette into acting from age six. By eight,
she had already appeared on Mad TV, Malcolm in the Middle,
and CSI. She was a working actress before most kids her
age had thought about their future.
The Breakthrough
In 2007, Jennette was cast as Sam Puckett in Nickelodeon’s
iCarly alongside Miranda Cosgrove. Sam was loud, fearless,
always hungry — and audiences loved her immediately.
iCarly ran from 2007 to 2012, becoming one of the most
watched shows on Nickelodeon. At her peak, Jennette earned
$50,000 per episode and won four Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice
Awards. The show led to the spinoff Sam & Cat (2013-2014)
with a rising Ariana Grande.
Behind the scenes, however, Jennette felt trapped by a
career she never truly chose. When Sam & Cat was cancelled,
it marked the end of Jennette McCurdy the actress — and
the beginning of something much bigger.
Life Today
In 2026, Jennette McCurdy is busier than ever. Her memoir
“I’m Glad My Mom Died” is being adapted into a TV series
starring Jennifer Aniston — with Jennette serving as
showrunner. On January 20, 2026, she released her debut
novel “Half His Age” to major buzz.
She has no plans to return to acting. Her focus is writing,
producing, and telling stories completely on her own terms.
